Pancetta & Greens Frittata

Pancetta & Greens Frittata Recipe
This frittata is packed with hearty greens and leeks with a touch of salty bacon or pancetta and Asiago cheese for flavoring. We tested the recipe both with egg substitute and whole eggs. It works great either way, but has fewer calories and less saturated fat when you use egg substitute.

The Backyard Farmer update- pulling up a tree stump, tumbling composter, and aquaponics fish tanks.

thebackyardfarmer.org In this update, I rented an excavator to pull out a big stump in my backyard that was ecventually going to be in the way of future projects. The tree stump was put into my abondoned in ground swimming pool before the pool is filled with dirt. You may also see that the pool contains a lot of concrete chunks. My entire backyard section around my pool was concrete and I had to get all the concrete up. What better filler for a swimming pool than concrete and tree stumps. The later part of this video you will see more about my tumbling composter and I then introduce you to some of the equipment I already have for my future aquaponics project.

Chicken Run

Joel tells us about the chooks. An added bonus… the first egg came just two hours after getting the chooks home. Those Isa Brown's are productive indeed. Then, just a few minutes later, another escaped our temporary enclosure to scratch out a lay station amongst the cuttings of shrub Joel removed to make way for the coop. Then there were two! Now all we need is the bacon.

The Backyard Farmer- worms arrived in the mail

thebackyardfarmer.org The worms have arrived from Uncle Jim's Worm Farm and I will show you how they look after a long trip in a cardboard box traveling through the US postal system. I will then transplant them into my roll over worm bin.
