My Son sent me this link. It is always amazing to see people that can think outside of the box. This experiment of literally “growing furniture” as a business concept is way out of the box!
“A designer in Derbyshire says he has come up with a new and dramatically more efficient way of making furniture.
Gavin Munro grows young trees directly into the shape of chairs, lamps and mirror frames.
Mr Munro’s project has been going for the past nine years and this year the first lot of trees will be harvested to be sold as the finished products.”
Lemony seared scallops and a walnut vinaigrette top this healthy dinner salad. When shopping for scallops, avoid those treated with sodium tripolyphosphate (STP); it can make them mushy and the scallops won’t brown properly. Some scallops have a small white muscle on the side; remove it before cooking.
With tons of fresh herbs, arugula, olives and farro, this healthy chicken salad recipe makes a wonderful potluck platter or healthy dinner. We love the nutty flavor and quick cooking time of farro but other whole grains, such as freekeh, bulgur or couscous, are also good choices.
Here is an interesting perspective from Toby Hemenway on: Should you or shouldn’t you grow native plants in your yard. He is a powerful advocate of native plants. And, at the same time, is concerned that the passions of some other native plant advocates might lead down a path that is not as good for native plants. Specifically, the planting of exclusively native plants vs. planting of an edible garden.
